Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer

Location: Mason, OH 45040 (Onsite with Extensive Travel)

Employment Type: W2 Contract – 6 Months with possibility for extensions

Pay Rate: $45.00 – $50.00/hour (determined by experience, paid weekly)

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Travel Requirement: Up to 90% travel throughout the United States to customer sites

Role Overview:

BEPC is seeking an experienced PLC Controls Engineer to lead electrical controls and automation projects supporting advanced material handling systems. This position is responsible for developing PLC programs, supporting system integration, overseeing project execution, and providing onsite commissioning and customer support throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have strong PLC programming experience, a background in material handling automation, and the ability to travel extensively to customer sites across the United States.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead controls engineering activities for integrated automation and material handling projects
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PLC code for automated material handling systems
  • Review AutoCAD layouts, electrical schematics, and control system designs
  • Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and associated control systems
  • Execute project tasks while managing scope, budget, schedule, and customer expectations
  • Coordinate electrical resources and support project planning activities
  • Conduct internal testing, commissioning, and onsite startup activities
  • Execute:
  • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Business User Acceptance Testing (BUAT)
  • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls, automation systems, and communication networks
  • Monitor project timelines and provide regular status updates
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, project managers, customers, and field personnel
  • Support development and maintenance of controls engineering standards and best practices
  • Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and engineering deliverables
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project team members when needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Minimum 4 years of Controls Engineering experience

  • Experience with:

  • Experience supporting E-Commerce Material Handling Systems
  • 2–5+ years of Controls Engineering experience within automated environments
  • Experience leading automation implementation projects
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience recommending and implementing technical solutions
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering and operational teams


Work Environment:

This position is based in Mason, Ohio and requires extensive travel to customer sites throughout the United States. When not traveling, candidates will work onsite at the Mason facility. The role involves hands-on controls engineering, system commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer-facing project support.
