Software Engineer III (Contract)

Location: Beaverton, OR (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months (Potential Extension)

Pay Range: $55–$60/hour (DOE)

MUST HAVE's: Polyglot desired/Python, AWS, AI Tooling (Cursor, Claude, MCP, etc.)

About the Role

Our client, a global brand, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer III to join their AI Dev Tooling & Enablement team. This role will serve as a senior engineer and technical steward, driving administration, governance, and long-term technical direction for modern AI development tooling, including GitHub, Cursor, and Claude.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical lead for AI developer tooling and enablement initiatives
• Provide administration and governance for GitHub and AI-based developer platforms
• Define and maintain technical standards, best practices, and scalable tooling frameworks
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve developer productivity and tooling adoption
• Support and enhance AI-powered development workflows across the organization

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering
• Strong expertise in software engineering fundamentals and system design
• Hands-on experience with GitHub administration (repositories, permissions, workflows, automation)
• Proficiency in Python (required)
• Experience working with AWS
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Familiarity with AI developer tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude, MCP, or similar platforms)

Nice to Have Qualifications

• Experience with Golang
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience with Backstage or developer portal frameworks
• Polyglot programming experience across multiple languages
