  • THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the SOCIAL WORKER, GS-0185-12, is to ?????provide operational leadership consultation, direct client services, community capacity building, preventive, remedial, and support services aimed at improving and sustaining the psychological health of Air National Guard (ANG) military members and their families. As a part of the ANG Wing Director of Psychological Health (WDPH) Program, the incumbent of this position provides access to a full range of professional services for the populations served. The Air National Guard Psychological Health Program (ANG PHP) will provide consultation to operational leadership on psychological health issues and vertical integration of Military Service and Department of Defense (DOD)-wide psychological health initiatives and population-health monitoring. Clinical and administrative duties focus on outreach, education and prevention, needs-based and psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, short-term problem resolution, and provision of or referral to evidenced-based interventions. Responsibilities include providing: primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention programs, specialty training for ANG health care professionals and other personnel on issues related to the psychological health of Airmen and their families, and multi-level community organization, collaboration, and enhancement. Individuals requiring clinical interventions (i.e., clinical treatment) for other than short-term problem resolution should immediately be referred to an appropriate and competent clinical professional. The ANG PHP will contribute to DoD and Military Service development of a strategic plan for delivery of comprehensive services to support psychological health. It will promote the availability of and access to an adequate continuum of care to ANG members. Conduct annual training for unit leadership on psychological health issues and the Psychological Health Program; Provides consultation to operational leadership on psychological health issues, Psychological health initiatives and population-health monitoring; Develops a formal evaluation process to monitor prevention and outreach programs and access to resources; Ensures that curriculums and community intervention initiatives for each prevention program are research-based and supported by the literature. Experience conducting assessments, routine and crisis evaluations, psycho-diagnostic assessments and provide short-term, evidence-based problem resolution strategies and services; Experience providing on-site and telephonic psychological health assessments and individual consultation to facilitate coordination of clinical, counseling, and other services promoting psychological health; Experience apply professional knowledge of the principles, theories, procedures, and practices of social work to conduct needs assessments and/or intake evaluations on a limited but routine and emergency basis; Experience documenting patients' records/chart in the appropriate Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) format and screen records / personnel for administrative recommendations. Experience preparing agenda for meetings, compiling statistical data, and preparing a variety of recurring reports; Preparing reports, and participating in writing narrative interpretations of analyses; Establish and maintain meeting notes and follows up with meeting recommendations. Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements prevention and community outreach and education programs. Designs and manages special programs, services, and information and awareness presentations, such as newspaper articles, Newcomers Orientation Briefings, brochures describing ways to enhance psychological health, and national and local awareness theme events (e.g., Suicide Prevention month and National Depression Screening Day). Develops programs and initiatives that deliver services through community-level preventive interventions. The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military. In addition, the position must meet one of the following: It does not have a comparable military function; the position is required in full-time (civilian) role when the organization, or similar military position, is mobilized to perform continuing post-mobilization functions; or the position requires a skill or competency that necessitates technical expertise or professional qualifications that cannot be readily found in the military structure of the state military force. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Education

Must have a degree in Social Work. Must have fulfilled all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Requirements

Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive MAY BE authorized, subject to funding and approval. PCS Relocation Costs MAY BE authorized subject to provisions of the Joint Travel Regulation, funding, and an agency determination that a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is in the Government's best interest. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. U.S. citizenship is required. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Must maintain proper security clearance Selective Placement Factor: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands. Must be privileged for independent practice by the Credentials Committee at the employing Medical Treatment Facility. A minimum of two (2) years within the past five (5) years in the independent practice of clinical social work is highly desired. Position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with local MDG policies. Must be obtained with 6 months of onboarding. Incumbent may share on-call duty during weeknights and/or weekends on a rotational basis as required consistent with other mental health professionals of the same specialty performing like duties. This position may be identified as having "regular contact with children," requiring a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for the position. Must be able to obtain and maintain privileging for the DOD/AFMS/ANGMS IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. Must maintain credentials requirements at all times (i.e. current and unrestricted state license, BLS, clinical competencies, etc.) IAW DHA PM 6025-13 Vol 4 and DAFMAN 44-119. Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required prior to position assignment.
