Shipping Manager

Role Summary
A growing, production-focused organization is seeking a Shipping Manager to oversee the daily flow of raw materials and finished goods. This role is responsible for shipping, receiving, inventory control, and dock operations while fostering a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
This opportunity is ideal for an individual who enjoys being hands-on on the warehouse floor, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and brings prior supervisory or leadership experience within a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution setting.
Primary Responsibilities
Outbound Shipping & Transportation
Direct daily warehouse personnel activities and loading dock operations
Review and validate sales and transfer orders to ensure accurate picking, packing, and dispatch
Arrange transportation with regional and national carriers, including LTL and full truckload services
Plan and calculate truckloads, including coordinating multi-stop deliveries several times per week
Oversee shipment scheduling, tracking, and related documentation
Complete domestic and international shipping documentation as required
Evaluate freight options and select cost-effective transportation solutions
Coordinate local deliveries, maintain vehicle usage logs, and provide basic fleet oversight
Be available to organize and load trucks on Saturdays when operationally required
Inbound Receiving & Inventory Control
Inspect and reconcile incoming goods against packing slips and purchase orders
Enter and update inventory transactions within the company’s ERP or warehouse system
Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and rotated
Maintain accurate bin locations, shelving organization, and material flow
Perform routine cycle counts and support broader inventory accuracy initiatives
Apply strong knowledge of inventory control and material-handling management practices
Facility Standards & Operational Support
Maintain housekeeping standards and promote a safe working environment
Enforce safety policies, equipment procedures, and material-handling protocols
Participate in process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives
Provide cross-functional support for general operational requirements as needed
Build collaborative relationships across departments and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture
Candidate Profile
Minimum 4 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse coordination within a production or distribution environment
Valid forklift certification
Proficiency with ERP or warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office applications
Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Clear verbal and written communication abilities
Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and motivate teams
Comfortable working independently while guiding a small team and collaborating cross-functionally
Exposure to Lean practices or continuous improvement programs is considered an asset
