Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator manages the flow of materials and products throughout a modern manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for unloading and receiving incoming goods, accurately identifying and labeling materials, supporting production through kitting and material movement, and maintaining precise inventory records in SAP ERP. The position requires safe operation of material-handling equipment, close collaboration with production teams, and active participation in continuous improvement efforts within a state-of-the-art facility.

Responsibilities

  • Unload, unpack, and uncrate incoming materials, parts, and products in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Move materials throughout the facility, including loading docks, storage areas, and manufacturing assembly and subassembly areas.
  • Operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and overhead cranes to transport and stage materials.
  • Identify, tag, and label all materials accurately to ensure proper traceability and storage.
  • Kit materials required for assembly and production processes according to established work orders and schedules.
  • Complete basic parts and subassembly transactions using SAP ERP to record material movements and inventory changes.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and visual Kanban methods.
  • Operate and support the inventory Kanban system to ensure timely replenishment of materials.
  • Complete and maintain inventory and material issuance documentation in both electronic and hard copy formats.
  • Follow all company and manufacturing safety guidelines and procedures while performing daily tasks.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects to enhance warehouse and material flow processes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse, storage, and inventory areas.
  • Build productive, collaborative working relationships with team members and other departments.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to cross-train and support multiple areas within the warehouse and production environment.
  • Support shipping activities including pick and pack of orders and preparation of shipments via carriers such as FedEx and UPS.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience in shipping and receiving operations, including receiving parts and preparing outbound shipments.
  • Proficiency with inventory control activities such as cycle counting, kitting, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and overhead cranes.
  • Experience using SAP ERP for basic parts, subassembly, and inventory transactions.
  • Familiarity with RF scanners for material identification, tracking, and documentation.
  • Ability to accurately identify, tag, and label materials and products.
  • Experience with pick and pack processes in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of common parcel and freight shipping processes, including FedEx and UPS shipping.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and orderly storage areas.
  • Commitment to following safety guidelines and procedures in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and support a cooperative work environment.
  • Flexibility to cross-train and perform a variety of tasks within the shipping, receiving, and inventory functions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with a Kanban inventory system or other lean material management methods.
  • Comfort working with both electronic and paper-based documentation for inventory and material issuance.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with willingness to participate in process enhancement initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse and inventory workspace.

Work Environment

The role is based in a brand new, state-of-the-art building in Hoffman, designed to support modern manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics operations. You will work in clean, organized warehouse, storage, and production support areas that use SAP ERP, RF scanners, and a Kanban inventory system to manage material flow. Daily work involves operating material-handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes, and handling shipments with carriers such as FedEx and UPS. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines, efficient material movement between loading docks, storage areas, and assembly or subassembly zones, and maintaining a high level of organization and cleanliness throughout the facility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hoffman Estates, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
