Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a vital role in supporting efficient warehouse operations by accurately managing inventory, processing and tracking orders, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position requires strong attention to detail, reliable data entry skills, physical stamina for material handling, and the ability to work collaboratively with a warehouse team while using warehouse and ERP systems to keep inventory and shipping records up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Organize, store, and maintain inventory using warehouse systems and established procedures.
  • Pick, pack, and label items accurately and efficiently for outgoing shipments.
  • Generate shipping labels and prepare all required shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Update inventory records promptly and accurately in the system.
  • Prepare and generate reports on inventory levels and order fulfillment status.
  • Process and select orders in accordance with customer and internal requirements.
  • Handle materials safely, including pulling orders and wrapping or creating pallets for shipment.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including stand-up forklifts, when qualified and as needed.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or quality issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized warehouse area at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Perform additional warehouse-related tasks and duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Previous warehouse experience handling inventory and orders.
  • Experience with inventory management processes and practices.
  • Experience processing and selecting orders in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Proficient data entry skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for inventory and order management.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving operations.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting, moving, and organizing products.
  • Ability to pull orders and prepare them for shipment.
  • Experience operating a stand-up forklift is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain orderly work areas.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with pallet wrapping and creating secure pallets for shipment.
  • Comfort working with warehouse management or inventory tracking systems.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments.
  • Ability to identify and report inventory discrepancies or quality issues.
  • Reliability and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in an open-air warehouse facility where temperatures can vary and may be hot or cold depending on the weather. The position is scheduled on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work involves regular material handling, including pulling orders, pallet wrapping, and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts when qualified. The environment is active and hands-on, with a focus on maintaining clean, safe, and well-organized work areas while supporting consistent shipping and receiving operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vista, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00/hr.
