Job Title: Sheet Metal Mechanic

Job Description

The Sheet Metal Mechanic installs, fabricates, and modifies a wide range of commercial sheet metal duct systems, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications and safety standards. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, performing accurate measurements and layouts, and working closely with crews and customers on new construction and tenant fit-out projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install all types of sheet metal ductwork, including spiral, galvanized, rectangular, double-wall, and stainless steel systems for commercial projects.
  • Measure and cut sheet metal to the correct dimensions using appropriate tools and methods to ensure precise fit and function.
  • Install preassembled duct sections and components according to project plans, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements, duct routing, and installation details.
  • Complete accurate layouts as needed, using scribers, dividers, and squares to mark dimensions on materials.
  • Support AC installation and retrofit work, coordinating with other trades as required.
  • Apply general knowledge of piping and controls to support system installation and integration.
  • Install and work with VAV (Variable Air Volume) boxes and offsets as part of the ductwork system.
  • Communicate effectively with crews and customers to coordinate work, address questions, and ensure expectations are met.
  • Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE while working on construction sites, including elevated floors and in hot conditions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and handle tools and equipment responsibly.
  • Work scheduled hours, including extended hours and overtime as needed to meet project timelines.

Work Environment

This role is based on commercial construction and tenant fit-out projects, including work on upper floors of large buildings. You will work primarily on a mix of new construction and tenant fit-out spaces, including professional office environments. The schedule typically runs Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the potential for additional hours and overtime.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $28.00/hr.
