ServiceNow Development Lead

We have a client that is looking to hire a ServiceNow Development Lead on a full-time basis.


Location: Plano, TX

Work Environment: Hybrid (4 days a week in the office)

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience with the ServiceNow platform, including development, administration, or platform engineering
  • 3+ years in a senior or lead technical role supporting ServiceNow
  • Strong expertise in ServiceNow scripting, APIs, data models, and workflow automation
  • Proven experience with ServiceNow platform architecture, best practices, and upgrade planning
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design efforts and mentor engineers
  • Skilled in translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Experience operating ServiceNow as an enterprise platform or product (e.g., CoE or platform ownership model)
  • Background working in large, global enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the ServiceNow Architect to design and implement platform solutions across ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, and custom applications
  • Define, document, and enforce platform standards, patterns, and best practices aligned with the ServiceNow Now Platform roadmap
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex platform issues, integrations, and performance challenges
  • Ensure platform solutions are secure, scalable, upgrade‑safe, and compliant with enterprise governance standards
  • Lead hands-on development and configuration using JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, UI Builder, and ServiceNow data models
  • Review solution designs, code, and configurations to ensure quality, maintainability, and alignment with platform strategy
  • Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to translate business needs into effective technical solutions
  • Plan and guide technical execution for releases, upgrades, and major platform enhancements
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to ServiceNow developers and administrators
  • Establish and maintain development standards, code review processes, and technical documentation practices
  • Support onboarding and skill growth through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing
  • Promote a culture of engineering excellence, automation, and continuous improvement
  • Design and oversee integrations with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Azure AD, Okta, Salesforce, monitoring tools) using REST, SOAP, and IntegrationHub
  • Ensure data integrity, reliability, observability, and performance across integrated systems
  • Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure alignment and compliance
  • Support platform governance, including technical debt management, instance health, and CMDB/CSDM adherence
  • Lead technical execution of ServiceNow upgrades and adoption of new features
  • Monitor platform performance, stability, and usage, driving proactive optimization efforts
