Service Writer

General Description:

As the Service Writer, you will perform service writing and coordination duties for Gem City Tire, which is a growing company providing tires, tire service and mechanical service to the Commercial Trucking industry.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Assist in the day to day activities of all service department employees.
• Assist in dispatching of fleet work and road calls accordingly.
• Fielding incoming calls from customers, vendors, and any others.
• Opening and closing work orders and invoices.
• Contact customers for approvals and PO numbers as needed.
• Quoting tire prices accurately.
• Identifying add-on sales opportunities and effectively communicate these to the customer.
• Handling all payments and other transactions promptly and properly.
• Completing work orders, PM checklists, and other paperwork effectively and efficiently.
• Ensuring inventory is secured, stored and only accessible to the associates in accordance with company guidelines.
• Maintaining work flow and organization to ensure maximum productivity.
• Provide "Service Excellence - Always" to meet the service goals of the location and of customers
• Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety requirements.
• Any other duties as assigned by management
• Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time, which may include light and heavy lifting, including commercial tires and wheels, standing, bending, and squatting

Qualifications:

• Service Manager, Service Writer or Service Advisor experience is a plus.
• Commercial tire service industry experience is a plus.
• Retail tire experience is a plus.
• Transportation related work experience is a plus.
• Invoice - billing experience is welcome.
• Customer service skills are required.
• This position requires a High School Education or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong communication skills are a must.
• Working knowledge with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent people relations skills.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
