JOB SUMMARY

Keep all critical systems up and operational, ensure that server hardware, software, and databases are current and operational, oversee and implement new software/hardware, and assist in day-to-day problems that may occur to the staff or users including creation of new users.

  • Performs server and application maintenance and updates as specified by vendors and industry standards; work includes use of a variety of management, development and support tools for server applications.
  • Researches new and applicable items for use with County or Elected Office projects, enhancements or existing applications.
  • Performs project management, development, enhancements, implementation, modifications and documentation of Elected Offices, departments or County IT projects.
  • Provides Tier 3 and Tier 4 support functions and issue resolution for existing enterprise level applications.
  • Performs related functions for Managing for Results program, including decision making, data entry, data verification and data analysis.
  • Provides training on application enhancements, modifications and implementations of County, Elected Office or department projects.
  • May perform special projects, including project management, system integration, system implementation, software development, workflow configuration and application configuration.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records and restricted County or Elected Office information; performs related duties as required or assigned.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:


  • Perform and implement preventative maintenance for all voting equipment. Including but not limited to, Poll-Pads, ADA Devices and tabulation machines.
  • Immediately troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure all repairs are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Lead in the coordination, creations and integration of all election software and hardware systems. Election creation and ballot design utilizing the election management software. Election creation and import/export via E-Pulse/poll-pads. Audio and design for ADA devices via election management software/expressvotes. Election night set up via SOE and AZ SOS secure file transfer.
  • Understand ballot styles, precinct splits, and paver see the ballot proofing process. Efficiently implement changes and prepare ballot drafts for candidates and party chairs.
  • Understand AVID, its functions, and how to export and import voter history data in an efficient and timely manner on election night.
  • Conduct internal and AZ SOS logic and accuracy testing for all election equipment. Understand protocols and procedures to ensure successful testing.
  • Responsible for ballot processing, ballot tabulation, election night results reporting, providing canvass documents, and conducting post-election audits.
  • Responsible for making sure that all election software systems work together. Including but not limited to the Election Management System, AVID, ExpressVotes, Tabulators and Server, Poll Pads, Ballot on Demand Printers, and SOE Election Night Reporting.
  • Annually verify Hash Values for all Election Management Systems for the AZ SOS.
  • Troubleshoot Election Day technology issues at polling places. Work on the phone bank as needed to assist poll workers and other staff with all technical issues
  • Preparing all voting equipment for election day, maintaining chain of custody of all elections voting equipment
  • Act as a liaison between the Elections Department and Pinal County IT Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • One year of experience in network server applications support;
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.


Special Requirements for positions in the Elections Department:

  • Must successfully complete the Elections Officer Certification class from the State of Arizona within the next training session period from the date of hire.
  • Must be eligible to vote in Arizona.
  • Must pass applicable background check.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM.
  • Experience with SQL Reporting
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Maintenance procedures and standards for software applications, hardware and infrastructure.
  • Capabilities of computer systems, including networked enviornments and specialized software applications.
  • Network system access and security guidelines and standards.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, lift, speak, hear, walk, and demonstrate visual and mental acuity.

Work is performed in a relatively safe, secure, and stable work environment.


The hiring salary for this position is dependent upon experience, qualifications and position funding; starting salaries above the midpoint require additional approval.
