Trial Attorney (First-Chair) – Los Angeles, CA (Century City)
A leading plaintiff-side law firm is seeking a seasoned First-Chair Trial Attorney to lead jury trials and drive trial strategy across a high-volume, high-stakes litigation docket. Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as first chair in jury trials, including voir dire, opening statements, witness examinations, and closing arguments
- Take and defend depositions, including corporate representatives, experts, and key witnesses
- Lead trial preparation end-to-end, including:
- Motions in limine
- Jury instructions, verdict forms, and trial briefs
- Exhibit and witness lists, trial binders
- Evidentiary strategy and objections
- Develop and execute trial strategy in collaboration with leadership and, where needed, appellate counsel
- Prepare fact and expert witnesses for testimony
- Oversee trial readiness and coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution
- Maintain accurate case tracking, reporting, and time records
What Success Looks Like:
Within the first 60–90 days, you will:
- Be fully integrated into the firm’s litigation and trial preparation processes
- Confidently lead strategy on assigned matters
- Drive team execution and trial readiness
- Earn the trust of partners to independently lead courtroom proceedings
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- Minimum 10+ years of litigation experience, including multiple first-chair jury trials
- Proven courtroom presence and strong trial advocacy skills
- Deep expertise in trial preparation, case strategy, and oral advocacy
- Comfortable working in a tech-driven, paperless environment
- Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
- Willingness to travel within California as needed
