Job Summary
Supports enhancements to the technology that powers Walgreens’ Distribution and Transportation operations. This role works across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and legacy logistics platforms to solve complex operational challenges and deliver high-impact solutions, requiring independent judgment, problem-solving, and creativity. Partners closely with business and technology teams to support mission-critical systems, drive improvements, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of Walgreens’ supply chain technology within established enterprise standards.

This role is based in Deerfield, Illinois and follows a hybrid work model, requiring four days per week in the office and one day working remotely.

Job Responsibilities- Develops and performs operational activities that impact important components / processes of the specified Technology work function. This may include work in Information Security, Business Systems Analysis, Strategy, Operation or analysis work in any other part of the Technology organization that may include items such as:
- Developing and performing assigned high profile plans/programs to enhance/maximize consumer awareness, market share and support specified initiatives
- Interpreting results and analyzing trends.
- Reviewing alignment of functional area strategies with assumed outcomes.
- Monitoring strategies of functional area and recommending / implementing adjustments.
- Contributing to planning and implementing a broad range of activities to meet objectives.
- Developing tactical plans.
- Participating in development of programs that establish and enhance standards.
- Assessing and evaluating systems to identify weaknesses and assess risk; performing vulnerability testing.
- Implementing new or upgraded measures or controls, and documenting system or process changes.
- Reviewing reports or logs, investigating possible exceptions and collaborating with internal teams or external agencies as needed, including managed service providers.
- Developing and planning controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems.
May advise on security controls for projects.- Researching and performing root cause analysis.
- Assisting in the creation and implementation of solutions, which may include conducting
- vendor assessments to ensure vendor is complying with contract language and WBA
- requirements.
- May advise on penetration testing and vulnerability assessments of applications, operating systems and/or networks. May conduct complex cleanup of legacy environments
- May conduct contract reviews for appropriate language prior to a project/WBA signing
- May assist in the creation and implementation of solutions, which may include conducting vendor assessments to ensure vendor is complying with contract language and WBA requirements.
- May develop and enhance processes to support established standards. May design specifications of assigned projects and may lead in implementation.
- May ensure that defects in assigned projects or programs are tracked, summarized and presented to management.
- Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced business solutions.
- Participates in the development of business approaches and new or enhanced processes.

- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.

- Experience using analytical skills, tools and techniques to investigate information and to draw conclusions.
- Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state)
Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting or enhancing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Transportation Management Systems (TMS) in a distribution or logistics environment.
Understanding of distribution center and transportation operations, including order fulfillment, shipping, carrier management, and system integrations.
Experience working with logistics software providers and automation vendors, including exposure to material handling and warehouse automation systems such as conveyors, robotics, and cranes.
Familiarity with system integrations between WMS, TMS, ERP, and financial systems.
Experience supporting or enhancing IBM i (AS400) environments and familiarity with SYNON / CA 2E or similar model-based development frameworks. This role does not require development experience, but candidates should be comfortable navigating legacy systems and understanding how they support warehouse operations.
Working knowledge of IBM i / DB2 for i, Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL, including data structures, query development, and data analysis.
Ability to analyze, document, and modernize legacy processes while supporting ongoing operational stability, including working across both legacy and modern application environments.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate information, identify inconsistencies, and challenge assumptions when appropriate.
Ability to navigate complex systems and workflows and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for development teams.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including technical teams, vendors, and operations partners.

Salary Range: $98600 - $157500 / Salaried
