Position Summary

The Senior Director, Tax will be a key member of the global tax function, responsible for leading REIT-related tax matters, strategic private capital initiatives, and tax planning activities. This role supports the company’s growth strategy by ensuring transactions and operations are executed in a REIT-compliant manner across a complex global structure.


This position reports to the Vice President, Tax and will lead a team of tax professionals. The role works cross-functionally with accounting, finance, legal, investments, and asset management teams, as well as external advisors.


Key Responsibilities

Tax Strategy & Transactions

  • Lead and implement tax planning strategies related to M&A, capital markets activity, and investment structures within the REIT framework
  • Review transaction documents and provide guidance on tax structuring and related provisions
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external advisors to support transaction execution

REIT Compliance & Oversight

  • Oversee REIT qualification and compliance, including income and asset testing
  • Manage REIT due diligence processes for acquisitions and investments
  • Develop and maintain scalable REIT compliance policies and procedures

Private Capital & Joint Ventures

  • Lead U.S. tax matters related to private capital structures, joint ventures, and portfolio companies
  • Oversee tax compliance and reporting across complex partnership structures and global investments

Tax Operations & Reporting

  • Provide guidance on tax operational matters, including planning, budgeting, and internal communications
  • Partner with accounting on tax reporting, financial statement disclosures, and ASC 740 considerations
  • Maintain internal controls and documentation to support SOX compliance

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals
  • Collaborate with external advisors (law firms and accounting firms) and manage related engagements and budgets
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise the business on potential impacts


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA, MST, or JD preferred
  • 12+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry
  • Deep expertise in REIT taxation, partnership taxation, and inbound tax considerations for non-U.S. investors
  • Experience with complex transactions, joint ventures, and investment structures
  • Strong leadership and team management experience

  • International tax experience (outbound)
  • Experience with ASC 740
  • Exposure to financial products and tax structuring
