Mission Intelligence Group is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support National Geospatial‑Intelligence Agency (NGA) mission partners through the design, integration, and sustainment of systems that enable timely, accurate, and reliable GEOINT delivery.
This role operates within a Major Systems Acquisition environment and focuses on improving how mission needs are translated into operational systems that analysts depend on every day. The ideal candidate understands GEOINT tradecraft, works comfortably across requirements and implementation, and prioritizes mission utility over theoretical architecture.
Your Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will lead multi‑disciplinary engineering efforts supporting GEOINT missions across the National System for Geospatial‑Intelligence (NSG) and Allied System of Geospatial‑Intelligence (ASG). You will work closely with government stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to ensure systems are engineered, integrated, and delivered in a way that directly supports operational GEOINT production.
You will also mentor Mid‑level and Junior engineers, ensuring disciplined systems engineering practices are applied consistently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate analyst and mission needs into clear, actionable system and service requirements
- Lead requirements analysis, trade studies, and analyses of alternatives
- Guide systems integration efforts to ensure performance, reliability, and standards compliance
- Support lifecycle engineering activities across design, development, integration, and operations
- Improve existing systems and workflows to better support GEOINT production and exploitation
- Identify technical risks early and support mitigation strategies
- Collaborate across organizational boundaries to align systems with NSG standards and operational workflows
- Mentor and guide engineering staff in systems engineering best practices
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI or ability to obtain SCI and successfully pass a polygraph
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline
- Equivalent experience accepted:
- 4 additional years with no degree, or
- 2 additional years with a non‑STEM degree
- 12+ years of experience supporting government or industry programs involving:
- DoD / IC Acquisition and Requirements Processes
- PPBE / PPBES
- Systems engineering of large, complex System‑of‑Systems or Service‑Oriented Architecture environments (cloud, on‑premise, or hybrid)
- Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles in operational environments
- Knowledge of the NSG / ASG and GEOINT mission context
- Prior NGA, IC, or DoD program or project experience
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline
- Working knowledge of:
- Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Digital Engineering
- Software Development practices
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
- Documented experience supporting geospatial programs or missions
- Professional licensure
- Membership or leadership participation in professional organizations such as:
- ACSM, ASCE, ASPRS, OGC, SAREM, USGIF
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following:
- Photogrammetry
- Remote sensing
- Image science
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Geomatics or related disciplines
