Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Endevor System Administrator to manage and support enterprise mainframe application lifecycle processes using CA Endevor SCM. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in z/OS environments, mainframe technologies, and release management, with the ability to manage multiple applications, streamline build processes, and ensure controlled promotion across environments.
Key Responsibilities
Endevor System Administration
- Administer and maintain the CA Endevor SCM platform across enterprise mainframe environments
- Configure and manage Endevor structures including Environments, Systems, Subsystems, and Stages
- Ensure proper promotion flow across environments:
- Development → SIT → UAT → Production
- Maintain environment configurations aligned with enterprise release management policies
Application Setup and Configuration
- Configure Endevor to support multiple enterprise applications
- Create and manage application structures, including:
- Environments
- Systems
- Subsystems
- Component types
- Enable multiple applications to operate within shared Endevor infrastructure while ensuring logical separation
- Define and manage component classifications for:
- COBOL programs
- JCL scripts, PROCs
- Copybooks
- DB2 modules
- CICS programs
- Assembler modules
- PL/I programs
- Control cards and batch utilities
- Configure development, test, and production libraries
Processor and Compilation Management
- Design and maintain Endevor processor groups for build and compilation processes
- Develop processors for:
- COBOL, PL/I, Assembler
- DB2 precompile and compile
- CICS compilation and link-edit
- JCL validation and PROC management
- Configure processors to perform:
- Source extraction
- Compilation and link editing
- DBRM generation and DB2 bind processes
- Deployment to runtime libraries
- Ensure correct dataset allocation, compile parameters, and build integrity
Component Lifecycle Management
- Manage lifecycle of all components within Endevor
- Perform component actions:
- Add, Update, Delete
- Retrieve, Generate
- Move, Transfer
Promotion and Migration Control
- Manage controlled promotion of components across environments:
- Development → SIT
- SIT → UAT
- UAT → Production
- Ensure compliance with enterprise change management processes
- Validate dependencies during promotions to prevent failures
- Monitor and troubleshoot migration issues
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with CA Endevor Software Change Manager in z/OS environments
- Proficiency in mainframe technologies:
- COBOL
- JCL
- DB2
- CICS
- Assembler
- Experience designing and managing Endevor processor groups
- Strong knowledge of mainframe datasets and library structures
- Familiarity with security systems such as RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret
- Experience in enterprise release management and deployment processes
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years of experience in large enterprise environments
- Experience supporting multiple applications and complex deployment pipelines
- Exposure to environments with large-scale component management and multiple teams
- Experience integrating Endevor with modern DevOps tools and automation frameworks
