Power Integrations (POWI) is looking for a Senior Staff Product Development Engineer to drive new product development of industry leading high-power AC to DC converters. These products are extremely challenging to develop because they combine the latest in design architecture, novel packaging, and high voltage GaN and LDMOS process. The diverse set of problems encountered require a special type of engineer; one that can drive detailed planning and problem solving in a cross-functional team comprised of Test, Process, Packaging, QA and Applications Engineering. Given the challenges they will face, a very capable engineer has an opportunity for high visibility at POWI and sustainable career growth.The chief responsibilities of this position include:
  • Collaborates before T/O with the front-end team (Design, Product Definer, Technology) and back-end team (Test, Packaging) to define the product development plan including test coverage on the ATE, ATE to bench correlation and bench characterization.
  • Spearhead the reliability qualification through contribution to the risk assessment, negotiation of the qualification plan, design of the qual H/W, and driving the team to resolve any failures
  • Support early Si bring-up and drive the ATE characterization of new products. A keen PE must identify parametric or defect issues early and participate in debug efforts either through data analysis, failure analysis, process DOE’s, and/or bench correlation.
  • Provides consultation to Senior and Staff PE on specific yield issues to accelerate learning curves during the production ramp
To be successful in the position, we are looking for a candidate that has tangible and demonstratable strengths in the following area:
  • Organized and persuasive in a team environment with a track record of releasing breakthrough products on schedule
  • Savvy in the use of data analysis to solve complex yield and/or qualification issues, with quantifiable results on the company’s bottom line
  • Technical leader that mentors the rest of PE organization. The engineer has a detailed understanding of analog circuits, parasitic inductance/capacitance, and noise coupling and as such is the go-to resource for other PE’s.
  • Has a comprehensive understanding of device physics and CMOS, GaN, and packaging technology and is instrumental in leading teams to direct failure analysis, determine root cause and implement process improvements.
  • Familiar with collaborative tools like confluence, Jira is a plus.
  • Experience with AI tools relevant to job function is a plus.
  • B.S. or M.S in EE, Materials Engineering, or Engineering Physics.
  • 12+ years experience in the semiconductor industry.
Power Integrations is committed to building teams that drive innovation and therefore review a range of factors when determining compensation.The annual base pay range for this position is $158,695to $229,046. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, qualifications and work location.The range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position in California.
