Staff Engineer – Electromechanical Product Development


We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to lead technical innovation, product development, and cross‑functional collaboration for next‑generation electromechanical products. This role is ideal for an engineer with deep mechanical/electrical expertise who thrives in fast‑paced environments and enjoys driving design excellence from concept through launch.

  • Onsite in Columbia SC area


As a key technical leader, the Staff Engineer will guide research, development, testing, and manufacturing readiness for new and existing products. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on electromechanical devices, motors, and batteries, while influencing cost, quality, reliability, and schedule outcomes across multiple product lines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electromechanical design, battery optimization, and product testing
  • Drive major new product development initiatives from concept to launch
  • Manage cost, quality, and schedule deliverables for NPD, quality improvement, and cost‑reduction efforts
  • Collaborate globally with engineering, supply chain, and project management teams
  • Conduct and facilitate technical design reviews and work closely with suppliers on design‑for‑manufacturability
  • Troubleshoot and optimize designs with domestic and international teams
  • Support manufacturing processes through DFM/DFA guidance and cross‑functional input


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • 7+ years of experience in electromechanical product design and manufacturing
  • Strong analytical abilities and judgment in mechanical/structural design
  • Proficiency with CREO (preferred), SolidWorks, or NX
  • Working knowledge of key manufacturing processes: injection molding, machining, casting, forging, heat treatment, powder coating, etc.
  • Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/DFA, PPAP, DVP&R, and problem‑solving methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working cross‑functionally across global teams
  • Experience with power tools or similar products preferred.
