Technical Procurement & Sourcing Analyst
This role negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers, and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of technical equipment, custom engineered products, systems, software, or components.
The successful candidate acquires and maintains an understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps. Additionally, this position reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy, discusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers, and negotiates refunds. This is a highly specialized individual contributor role that requires deep expertise from a professional/technical thought leader in their respective field or discipline.
Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Cost Reduction: Lead data analysis for cost reduction and supplier performance improvements; analyze supplier performance details and trends.
- Cost Modeling: Analyze internal and external cost details to identify opportunities and build strong, data-driven cases to support cost negotiations. Create cost models for supplier price structures.
- Variable Impact Modeling: Develop models detailing the impact of variables on cost and profit, including factors like volume/spend growth and the impact of material price changes.
- Advanced Analytics: Utilize AI in modeling and analysis.
- Sourcing Execution: Issue RFQs, facilitate and lead auctions, and generate "should-cost" requests.
- Strategic Reporting: Analyze procurement results and provide summaries and recommendations to sourcing managers.
- Negotiation Support: Develop negotiation fact sets and presentations to support supplier negotiations.
- Product Scope: Manage a portfolio consisting of 70% current products and 30% New Product Introduction (NPI).
Qualifications
- Location: Must be located in San Jose, CA.
- Career Progression: This position is intended to be a pipeline for future roles. Candidates need to be able to step into sourcing manager roles and have a strong interest in doing so.
- Sourcing Experience: Proven experience in supplier selection, performance management, cost models, and presentations.
- Data Proficiency: Skilled in data analysis and the presentation of results. Comfortable with data ambiguity and developing clarity across disparate systems.
- AI Integration: Experience leveraging AI within this scope of work.
- Multitasking: Ability to handle a high number of concurrent tasks in parallel. (For example: launching multiple RFQs and should-costs, while simultaneously working on other analyses and projects during supplier response times).
- Communication: Effective written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Able to "tell a story" from data and effectively communicate using visuals.
