Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 2–4 years of experience to join our growing regional banking organization. This role is well-suited for a high-performing professional with strong technical accounting skills who is eager to expand their responsibilities within a dynamic and collaborative finance team.
The Staff Accountant will contribute to financial reporting, general ledger integrity, regulatory reporting support, internal controls, and various finance initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation
- Take ownership of assigned areas of the monthly and quarterly close process
- Perform detailed account reconciliations, including cash, loans, deposits, investments, and accruals
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
Analysis & Internal Controls
- Perform variance analysis and provide clear explanations for fluctuations
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior leadership
- Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal control procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred
- Experience in financial services, particularly within regional or community banking
- Firsthand experience with:
- Loan accounting
- Deposit accounting
- Investment securities accounting
- Familiarity with banking core systems and general ledger platforms
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX)
