At Digital Technology & Operations, you will contribute to Volvo Group’s transformation toward a product-centric, digital future by strengthening our Finance Core Systems and modernizing the digital backbone for Global Accounting and Lease Accounting.

As part of the CPA SAP & Business Admin, Finance Core Systems – Global Accounting & Lease Accounting function, you will contribute to modernizing our core digital backbone, enabling high‑performing digital products that accelerate business value creation.

We are now looking for an accomplished Senior SAP Tax Expert with deep S/4HANA expertise to drive strategic tax solutions, define global tax designs, and ensure full compliance across diverse tax jurisdictions.

The Senior SAP Tax Expert will be a key member of the General & Lease Accounting Solution Centre, responsible for leading global tax configuration, designing scalable tax solutions, and supporting critical transformation initiatives within the Master Finance application landscape.

You will play a central role in ensuring tax compliance and system integrity across global markets while supporting large‑scale projects, rollouts, and strategic digital initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end SAP tax solution design, configuration, and implementation for complex global project landscapes.
• Conduct tax requirement analysis, drive design workshops, validate technical feasibility, and lead fit‑gap assessments.
• Own configuration of VAT, Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax, GST, Excise, and other indirect tax types across multiple geographies.
• Manage integration and configuration of external tax engines (e.g., OneSource, Vertex).
• Drive tax determination logic, condition records, jurisdiction codes, tax procedures, and relevant master data.
• Support all project activities including testing, defect resolution, cutover, migration validation, and deployment to production.
• Ensure alignment with global tax regulations, local statutory requirements, and internal compliance policies.
• Troubleshoot complex tax issues using debugging, trace tools, and cross‑module analysis.

Additional Responsibilities

Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional tax authority across SAP projects, providing strategic guidance to business, IT, and implementation partners.
• Act as Solution Owner for SAP Tax domain, defining future roadmap and standardizing global tax processes across entities.
• Lead and mentor functional consultants, offshore teams, and partner resources.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on system automation, simplification, and tax compliance optimization.

Technology & Integration Responsibilities

• Lead integration design across SD, MM, FI, Ariba, and other digital procurement/sales solutions.
• Oversee e‑Invoicing, digital signatures, real‑time reporting, and SAF‑T‑related tax obligations across countries.
• Collaborate with architects on SAP S/4HANA transformation, Central Finance, and cloud modernization programs.
• Support development teams with detailed functional specifications for enhancements, user exits, BADIs, BAdRs, and tax logic extensions.

Governance, Compliance & Quality

• Establish governance frameworks for tax configuration, transport management, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Support internal and external tax audits by providing system evidence, configuration details, and transactional reports.
• Ensure solution robustness through risk assessments, design validations, and regulatory change management.

Business Engagement

• Partner closely with global tax teams, controllers, and compliance officers to align system design with business needs.
• Advocate SAP Best Practices and guide stakeholders toward standardized tax processes across global entities.
• Lead change‑impact assessments and deliver business training, knowledge transfer, and user enablement sessions.

In this role, you will bring:

• 15+ years of deep functional experience in SAP Tax configuration in S/4HANA (VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, WHT, etc.).
• Strong expertise in tax engines, including integration architecture.
• Proven experience in global SAP rollouts with complex, multi‑country tax requirements.
• Hands‑on experience in indirect tax reporting, statutory reporting, and e‑Invoicing frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cross‑module tax integrations with SD, MM, FI, and procurement solutions.
• Ability to design, troubleshoot, and optimize tax configurations and complex tax flows.
• Strong documentation capabilities (functional specs, test scripts, process maps).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global, cross‑cultural environment.
• Ability to work independently under tight timelines and deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SAP Central Finance, SAP Public Cloud Tax Service, or regional tax-localization frameworks.
• Exposure to continuous compliance platforms (e.g., Peppol, ClearTax, Pagero).
• Knowledge of emerging digital tax regulatory trends (real‑time reporting, e‑audits, continuous transaction controls).
