Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking a highly qualified Senior Site Civil Engineer to support our expanding Design Engineering Group. This role is part of Kiewit’s rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. Our team provides best‑in‑class technical expertise and is a key contributor to the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the United States.

The successful candidate will lead site civil design efforts; provide technical and managerial oversight; support staff development; and contribute to pursuit and business development activities across the organization.

Location

This position is based out of our office in Lone Tree, CO location and includes travel opportunities to project offices and work sites. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule based on location and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead preliminary design concepts and alternatives to support estimating, pursuit strategy, and project planning.
  • Lead complex site civil engineering design tasks, serving as engineer of record or responsible charge as required.
  • Oversee the development of models and design deliverables using OpenRoads, Civil3D, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other design platforms.
  • Lead interdisciplinary coordination to ensure fully integrated, constructible design solutions.
  • Oversee development and execution of final designs including layout, grading, drainage, utilities, security fencing, and wall plans/profiles.
  • Promote and implement data‑driven design approaches and innovative technical solutions.

Project Management & Quality

  • Estimate, plan, direct, progress reporting, and change management of site civil engineering tasks within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Establish and oversee project‑specific design criteria and ensure contractual compliance through all phases of design.
  • Implement QA/QC procedures and support a culture of quality across project teams and disciplines.
  • Lead and participate in technical and constructability meetings, efficiently resolving design issues and maintaining alignment across contributors.
  • Support development and implementation of design management processes, technical standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior and mid‑level engineering staff.
  • Coordinate personnel and technical resources across offices to support project and pursuit needs.
  • Support staffing strategy, performance management, and the professional development of team members
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) required with ability to obtain licensure in additional states.
  • 10+ years of experience in site design, preferably with significant design‑build experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with civil/site development and utility coordination (overhead and underground).
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads, Civil3D, and other relevant modeling/design tools.
  • Proven ability to develop construction plans and deliver high‑quality design packages for transportation and commercial site projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of technical reports, memos, and presentations.
  • Experience developing project approaches, scopes, effort, schedules, progress reporting, and QA/QC plans.
  • Prior leadership, staff supervision, or team management experience required for senior‑level consideration.
  • Participation or leadership roles in ASCE, TRB, DBIA, or similar professional organizations a plus.
  • Prior experience in government and nuclear markets a plus.

Base Compensation: $140,000/yr - $180,000/yr
