Location: Bloomington, MN (On-site)
Compensation: $82,000 – $90,000 per year (DOE)

Role Overview
A premier, fully integrated real estate enterprise is seeking a Senior Real Estate Accountant to join our team in Bloomington. In this role, you will lead critical financial functions for our Property Management Division, overseeing complex accounting activities for a diverse portfolio of multi-family properties. We are looking for a high-ownership professional who can mentor junior staff and ensure the long-term financial health of our assets.

Job Details

Primary Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Direct the preparation and review of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for lenders and investors.
  • Calculate and present key operating metrics to senior leadership.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure reporting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage complex accounting cycles for multiple multi-family and commercial properties.

CAM Reconciliations & Compliance
  • Perform annual Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in tenant bill-backs and recovery.
  • Prepare annual operating expense reconciliations and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Maintain records for property tax assessments and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Support site property teams by participating in budgeting and cash flow forecasting.

Treasury & Cash Management
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Receivable workflows, ensuring timely rent collection and vendor payments.
  • Perform detailed bank reconciliations and manage credit card processing/reporting.
  • Monitor debt levels and maintain strict compliance with lender debt covenants.

Leadership & Support
  • Serve as the primary technical resource and mentor for junior accounting team members.
  • Coordinate and prepare year-end audit/tax packages for external accounting firms.
  • Continuously refine and document accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency.

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience: 5–7 years of professional accounting experience, with 3–5 years minimum specifically within real estate, property management, or commercial accounting.
  • Technical Skills: Yardi Voyager experience is required. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications are essential.
  • Core Competencies: Extensive experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing balance sheets, and handling complex cash flow scenarios.
  • Attributes: Self-starter with high attention to detail and the analytical ability to implement process improvements.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable source of transportation.
