Role Overview


We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee the end-to-end execution of high-priority bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects within the Albany/Capital Region on behalf of an award winning General Contractor. You will lead multidisciplinary teams through the complexities of NYSDOT standards, NEPA/SEQRA compliance, and multi-modal integration (Rail, Highway, and Pedestrian).


Quantifiable Scope & Responsibilities


  • Capital Management: Direct oversight of project portfolios ranging from $150M to $650M+, ensuring all deliverables meet NYSDOT’s "Green Book" specifications and AASHTO standards.
  • Schedule Authority: Manage multi-year construction lifecycles (typically 3–5 years) utilizing Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling to maintain a 0% slippage rate on major milestones.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between state agencies (NYSDOT, NYS Thruway Authority), federal partners (FRA, FHWA), and private contractors (e.g., Skanska, HNTB).
  • Operational Continuity: Implement Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) techniques to minimize traffic disruption for structures carrying upwards of 70,000–85,000 Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% adherence to environmental permits involving the Hudson River, including DEC and Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) requirements.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


  • Budget Variance: Maintain project costs within ±3% of the baseline budget through aggressive change-order management and value engineering.
  • Safety Excellence: Target a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of <1.0 across all job sites.
  • Quality Assurance: Achieve a 95% or higher first-pass approval rate on all engineering shop drawings and material certifications.


Required Qualifications


  • Education: B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • Licensure: Active New York State Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is mandatory.
  • Experience: * 12+ years in heavy civil infrastructure, specifically large-scale bridge projects (Steel girder, Movable/Vertical lift, or Multi-span concrete).
  • Minimum of 5 years in a lead PM role managing budgets exceeding $100M.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Primavera P6, MicroStation, and NYSDOT’s Project Management Guide (PMG).
