Senior Project Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing project documentation, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, assisting with scheduling and budgeting, and ensuring compliance with contract documents and safety standards. The Senior Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager, Superintendent, and project team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with company quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination

· Assist the Project Manager in managing all phases of commercial construction projects.

· Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

· Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications for completeness and constructability.

· Track project progress and communicate updates to the project team.

· Manage and/or facilitate project permitting with municipalities and design/subcontractor teams.

Document Control

· Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and shop drawings.

· Maintain accurate project documentation including meeting minutes, logs, and correspondence.

· Assist in managing change orders and maintaining project records.

Scheduling & Planning

· Support development and maintenance of project schedules.

· Coordinate subcontractor activities to ensure adherence to the project timeline.

· Assist in identifying potential schedule conflicts and propose solutions.

Cost Control

· Assist with project budgeting and cost tracking.

· Help track change orders and potential cost impacts.

Quality Assurance

· Monitor work to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.

· Coordinate inspections and testing requirements.

· Assist in resolving field issues.


Leadership & Mentorship

· Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Engineers and project coordinators.

· Support training and development of junior team members.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience

· Typically, 3-5+ years of experience in commercial construction.

· Experience working for a general contractor on commercial projects (e.g., office, retail, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use).

Skills

· Strong knowledge of construction processes and contract documents.

· Ability to read or decipher construction documents, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical

· Experience with project management software such as:

o Autodesk Construction Cloud

o Bluebeam Revu

o Microsoft Project

· Excellent communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to visit and walk active construction sites.

· Ability to climb stairs/ladders and work in varying weather conditions.

Salary Range: $110,000.00-$130,000.00 annually
