Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist / Buyer is responsible for owning procurement and purchasing activities across project builds and manufacturing operations in a high-growth, startup environment. This role is critical to supporting facility buildouts, equipment installation, and ongoing production by ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of tools, equipment, materials, and third-party services.

This position supports operations across Fiber Global’s Brownsburg and Whitestown manufacturing facilities and will partner closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to support rapid scaling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end procurement activities supporting capital projects, site buildouts, and manufacturing operations.
  • Source and purchase tools, equipment, MRO materials, and third-party services required for startup and ongoing production.
  • Partner closely with engineering, project management, and operations teams across multiple sites to understand evolving requirements and aggressive timelines.
  • Execute purchasing processes including RFQs, bid evaluations, negotiations, and purchase order management.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of supporting startup timelines, scalability, and quality expectations.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements to ensure cost efficiency and value.
  • Track and manage procurement activities against project schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with key milestones.
  • Proactively identify supply risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays in startup or production.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable for performance.
  • Support development and implementation of procurement processes, systems, and best practices in a startup environment.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure data integrity within ERP or purchasing systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing strategies, cost reduction, and supplier performance.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment required, or at least 5 years of applicable experience with a high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations, startup environments, or rapid production ramp-ups strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup or high-growth manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, sourcing, and supply chain principles within industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Experience procuring capital equipment, tools, MRO materials, and third-party services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple sites in an environment with shifting timelines and ambiguity.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with a focus on speed, cost, and quality.
  • Ability to operate with urgency while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, operations, and project teams.
  • Experience with ERP systems and purchasing tools preferred.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, production environments, and project execution.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to take ownership, be hands-on, and contribute beyond defined responsibilities in a startup environment.
  • All other knowledge, skills, and abilities that are reasonably aligned with this role.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Regular presence at both Brownsburg and Whitestown manufacturing facilities.
  • Periods of working on feet while supporting manufacturing operations and project sites.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required for safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
