Job Description

We are looking for a Senior .NET Developer to support the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) by analyzing existing applications and building new web applications for the Mobile Food Facility Registration System. This position is a full-time contract role and is hybrid in Indianapolis, IN, requiring three (3) days onsite and two (2) days remote.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze existing IDOH applications and participate in the design and development of new web-based systems

  • Develop a public-facing website to enable the State of Indiana to track registrations and inspections of mobile food facilities

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, unit testing, deployment, and maintenance

  • Collaborate with project managers, developers, business analysts, functional teams, and external partners to meet project goals

  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and system designs aligned with agency standards and state and federal policies

  • Apply object-oriented programming principles and best practices throughout development and testing

  • Develop application code using Microsoft .NET Framework, MVC frameworks, and C#

  • Create and execute unit testing strategies to ensure application quality and performance

  • Prototype, refine, test, debug, and enhance applications based on stakeholder feedback

  • Ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to the Project Manager

  • Take agency architecture standards and business decisions into account when designing solutions

  • Work independently under general supervision, exercising sound technical judgment

  • Support EDI-related activities as needed, including requirements analysis, documentation, and coordination with EDI and program teams

  • Resolve EDI data transmission issues and ensure accurate file exchanges with external trading partners

  • Provide helpdesk-level support for EDI claim transactions as required

What You’ll Need

Required:

  • 10+ years of current working experience with ASP.NET

  • 5+ years of current working experience with C#

  • 5+ years of current working experience with MVC frameworks

  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and addressing application security issues across multiple technologies

  • 5+ years of working experience with Oracle SQL

  • Hands-on experience developing and consuming web services

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex programming issues

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field with relevant IT experience

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Preferred:

  • Understanding of EDI file formats

  • Experience working in the health or public sector industry

$45 - $55 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
