  • Perform engineering calculations including stress, thermal, structural, and tolerance analysis
  • Design and support development of tools, fixtures, and manufacturing aids to improve production efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication and assembly
  • Troubleshoot design and production issues, providing rapid and effective solutions on the shop floor
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product design, cost reduction, and manufacturability
  • Review and validate engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and industry requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 4–6 years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering projects from concept through execution
  • Strong experience working directly with manufacturing teams and shop floor operations
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Experience performing engineering calculations (structural, thermal, mechanical)
  • Hands-on experience designing tools, fixtures, and production equipment
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes (welding, machining, assembly)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in transformer, power systems, or heavy industrial equipment manufacturing
  • Knowledge of materials, insulation systems, and high-voltage equipment design
  • Familiarity with ERP/PDM systems
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles

What Success Looks Like

  • Designs are delivered on time, accurate, and manufacturable
  • Strong collaboration with production results in reduced rework and improved throughput
  • Tools and fixtures improve efficiency, safety, and quality on the shop floor
