Summary Provide support to the development of new and revisions to existing products by acting as a liaison between Design Engineering and Production, identifying and resolving manufacturing problems and directing the tool room in the development of new and/or redesigned tools. Liaison to outlying facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods.
- Develop process routings with labor standards, for new products.
- Provide labor estimates for new program unit pricing.
- Recommend new product performance specifications to the Design Engineering group based on statistical analysis of like products.
- Work with the Planning group to understand product demand.
- Execute new product introduction process.
- Qualify processes and tooling using acceptable statistical methods.
- Create work instructions, production standards and production staffing requirements.
- Interface with other departments involved in manufacturing process.
- Act as a liaison to outlying Grayhill facilities.
- Research and resolve production issues.
- Evaluate and recommend potential new production equipment.
- Design tools and fixtures through the use of accepted CAD systems.
- Develop tooling estimates and NRE costs for new programs.
- Establish operating, maintenance and safety procedures for plant equipment and machinery.
- Research and implement continuous improvement projects.
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma concepts.
- Develop production ergonomic stations to maximize efficiency.
- Interface with customers regarding quality issues and new opportunities.
- Develop time studies to verify accuracy of labor standards.
- Define DOE scope and structure.
- Analyze DOE responses and respond accordingly.
- Participate in DFMEAs to promote DFM practices.
- Investigate and respond to CCAs and ICAs.
- Source and specify appropriate equipment to facilitate data collection for SPC data interpretation.
- Perform system administrator duties for SPC data collection and analysis.
- Monitor quality data to drive improvements.
- Participate in seminars, meetings and training sessions as required to maintain a working knowledge of new developments, techniques and products in the industry.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university with an Engineering concentration and minimally four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications
ISO 9001 experience, Lean Six Sigma concepts, preferred. Master's degree, or significant progress towards, preferred.
