Role description:



Arcadis is seeking a Senior Manager (Lab Planning) in Cambridge, MA that will be responsible for strategic and tactical planning of all laboratory/GMP space associated with the client's global real estate portfolio. The Lab Planner will also perform or manage large move planning and execution activities as required. The client's global real estate portfolio includes leased and owned spaces such as scientific research and development laboratories, manufacturing, office, storage, supply, gowning, preparation, testing, vivariums, etc.



Role accountabilities:



  • Master Planning – lead and participate in on-going review and revision of strategic planning efforts for the Kendall Campus and global portfolio; proactively meet with department leads and/or lab owners, and other partners (facilities, capital projects, EHS, operations, IT, HR, etc.) to provide forward-looking (5-10 years), properly equipped & planned spaces for future work in labs, offices, manufacturing, etc.
  • Programming & Analysis – meet with departments as needed to analyze current and future space requirements based on headcount, hybrid populations, square foot growth/contraction, new equipment purchases, process/work flow improvements, etc.
  • Lab Planning – develop and design lab space, analyze workflow, bring in new perspectives, thoughts from industry peers, etc. in response to end-user needs and with end-user input, including but not limited to office, manufacturing, collaboration, etc.
  • Move Planning – work with end-user points of contact to develop and verify move lists, plan for swing space, sequence of moves, etc. as necessary for any large group/project moves; create or organize all communications associated with large moves, perform or direct all pre-move site-visits, move, and post-move activities, including punch list resolution as needed
  • Capital Projects - Participate in capital construction project activities that involve lab planning and/or move management from initial programming and design through construction, project meetings & walk-throughs, installation, move-in, and post-occupancy
  • Maintain record drawings – perform or direct space audits on a quarterly basis to update record drawings for all locations; capturing as-built conditions for all spaces (furniture, equipment, names, etc.)
  • Standards Development & Maintenance – assist in the development of space utilization and construction standards.Develop and maintain architectural fixture and finish standards


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Facilities/Laboratory Planning and Management or equivalent preferred
  • 7+ years relevant work experience in the space planning and move management environment with capital project experience
  • 5+ years experience with laboratory planning in the biotech or pharmaceutical life sciences industry required
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, dealing with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to present creative, progressive ideas while engaging in change enablement activities to effectively encourage adaptation of new solutions
  • Demonstrated relationship building, networking, and customer service skills; ability to form strong working relationships with internal partners and external vendors
  • Must be assertive, self-driven and take initiative with fast pace organizational changes
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar; and IWMS tools
  • Experience with large lab renovation or new construction projects
