I. Job Summary
The Senior Community Relations Manager is responsible for enhancing the image of WM as a good corporate partner by working with employees, foundations, nonprofit agencies and local media to support and promote WM's community engagement. This role must sit within NC, SC, or GA.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Proven leadership, credibility, interpersonal and team skills, strong general communications skills, including project management, strategic planning, and measurement/evaluation.
- Incumbent will have a proven record of accomplishment of vision, creative thinking, and coordination of complex programs, including large-scale volunteer efforts.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under deadline pressure with employees at all levels.
- Assist in developing a strategic vision for community relations activities based on the WM vision, strategy and values.
- Plan, implement and evaluate volunteer programs.
- Track, monitor and evaluate community relations activities and accomplishments, and provides recommendations to senior leadership.
- Implement environmental education programs that highlight the importance of sustainability.
- Serves on local boards and/or holds membership positions with key community organizations.
III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Public Affairs/Administration or Public Relations, Business Administration or similar area of study
- High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant experience
- 7 years previous experience including Corporate Business and/or Public Relations, city or county government
B. Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or similar area of study
- Certification in Public Relations desired but not required (APR)
