JOB SUMMARY: A Senior Location Manager oversees all operations for all locations and divisions specified by the director of operations. They supervise all managers within their specified region and division. This position will work with direct reports and other senior managers to coordinate labor and physical assets to provide exceptional customer service and highly efficient operations. Works with the sales team to coordinate sales efforts at the specified location(s) to increase product sales, increase acreage served, and provide MKC services to maximize customer revenue. This position is responsible for the implementation and representation of the MKC 4-Keys for all locations and employees. Senior Location Managers are responsible for ensuring all employees practice the company’s safety policies and comply with all applicable regulations. This position will work closely with reports and with the Director of Operations to provide excellent customer service and quickly find and solve customer complaints. This position will maintain clean and aesthetically pleasing assets. Position will promote innovation. Senior Location Managers will coordinate with the Director of Operations, Director of Safety and Director of Facilities Management to make sure all facilities are in well maintained condition. This position will also communicate regularly with the operations directors to coordinate communications with employees, tactically execute plans daily, and execute upon the company’s strategic initiatives. This position will also complete special projects as assigned by the operations director.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven management skills.
- Current operational knowledge of all machinery in elevator for grain division and/or current operational knowledge all spray rigs and tender trucks located at assigned location, depending on assigned division.
- Ability to explain, make minor repairs and conduct maintenance on grain handling equipment and/or agronomy application and storage equipment.
- Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and the ability to apply them to MKC operations.
- Good working knowledge of grains handled, seeds, chemicals, and fertilizer products.
- Planning, Coordinating, Communication, Supervisory, and Training skills.
- Organization and Analytical skills.
- 1A applicators license and CCA if oversee agronomy division and/or 7B grain fumigation license if oversee grain division.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply common scientific, technical, and legal journals.
- Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Strive to exceed customer expectations at each transaction.
- Ability to handle emotional situations and resolve complaints of customers, co-workers, or regulatory agencies.
- Ability to write and log information, produce reports, and verbally communicate information to location manager.
Requirements
- Oversee operational functions of assigned department(s) at assigned locations and supervising management staff.
- Supervise and help conduct monthly safety meetings, insure your employees comply with MKC safety policies, and maintain safety records.
- Ensure management team is maintaining location assets in the highest possible condition.
- Ensure locations are proficient in the use of safety, HR, maintenance and technology.
- For grain operations, ensure all grain is sampled, graded and maintained in the highest quality.
- Grow your customer base by enhancing the profitability of your customers and ensuring no product problems result from services provided in your territory.
- Maintain a positive attitude that promotes the 4-Keys and teamwork within the company.
- Attend product, merchandising, and cooperative meetings and work to improve personal skills and knowledge. Desire to learn better and more efficient techniques to improve your performance and company profitability.
- Ensure locations are following the company credit policy by making credit terms known to customers, not charging to customers on COD, not extending credit to customers without approval of credit manager, and not authorizing customers to exceed their credit limit.
- Observe all OSHA, state, and federal regulations; maintain equipment and facilities regularly; and follow housekeeping standards keeping facilities neat and clean
- Prepare and operate within budgets for all areas of responsibility.
- Coordinate labor needs with all direct reports and other divisions to utilize labor available most efficiently and ensure all employee and customer needs are met.
- Organize and compile board reports
- Assist in organization of all customer and employee events.
- Complete special projects assigned by your manager.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Ability to use provided PPE as required. This could include hardhats, safety glasses, hearing protection, ventilators/masks, gloves, long sleeved shirts, etc.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in agricultural field or five years of management experience is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job involves work in dusty, windy, hot, humid, cold, or wet conditions; work around moving mechanical parts; high precarious situations; tight hard to access spaces; fumes or airborne particles; and moderate short term noise exposure.
