The Prince George’s County Office of Information Technology is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Info Tech Engineer 5G) grade G29 position, in the?Server Administration Division.

About the Position
This is a senior-level professional engineering position responsible for the independent administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise
network and server infrastructure. The position performs complex technical work involving system availability, performance, security, and
reliability in support of County operations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Division
Manager and requires advanced technical judgment but does not include enterprise-wide governance authority or managerial responsibility.
Performance is evaluated in terms of technical adequacy, accuracy, and efficiency as evidenced by compliant and proper system and network
functioning; and adherence to established timeframes.


About the Agency
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for all of the agencies, departments, and branches of County government. The OIT Service Desk provides information technology support and maintenance services to Prince George’s County personnel. The Office of Information Technology is wholly dedicated to aligning technology efforts to support the strategic goals of the County. OIT will provide leadership, expertise, and resources in the ideation, development, and deployment of innovative technologies and streamlined processes to improve government efficiency, business interaction, and citizen access to government information and services.

  • Performs operating system patching, version upgrades, and configuration changes in accordance with established change-management procedures.
  • Provides senior-level support for network connectivity, authentication services, file services, and application servers.
  • Supports enterprise backup, recovery, and data protection processes.
  • Participates in on-call rotation to support after-hours operational needs.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and provides technical recommendations to management.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex hardware, software, and network performance issues.
  • Monitors system logs, alerts, and performance metrics to identify potential failures
  • Performs root-cause analysis and documents corrective actions.
  • Utilizes monitoring tools to track system availability, capacity, and performance.
  • Identifies trends and recommends adjustments to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Assists with capacity planning and performance tuning initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or business or public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in an information technology engineering field, in which at least two (2) years must have involved lead/supervisory duties.
  • Must be willing to respond to service calls after normal business hours, when required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered. Please note there is no equivalency for the required supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert.
  • 4-5 years’ systems administration experience including Active Directory, Entra ID, and VMware.
  • 4-5 years’ experience with Microsoft infrastructure components: DNS, DHCP, Certificates, etc.
  • 4 years’ experience with Hybrid Exchange. Includes full lifecycle management.
  • 4 years of automation experience with PowerShell or Python.
