The Opportunity

This position works out of our Minnetonka, MN, location in the Electrophysiology (EP) business.

Main Purpose of Role

The Senior Group Lead assists manufacturing management with achieving the daily production schedules and quality goals. Coordinates and supervises daily work for production personnel, moving operators around as necessary to maximize output and reduce WIP levels. Assist the supervisor in developing action plans to hit required output. Performs production reviews to ensure high level of quality before releasing product. Provide guidance and be a source of information for operators and support groups in the area. Assists in the employee/contractor selection process, and coordinates the documentation, onboarding, and training for employees, and provides inputs for performance appraisal. Coordinates sub-assembly and work order builds to achieve required productivity goals. As necessary, will perform the responsibilities of a Sr. Operator performing a wide variety of complex operations and numerous inspections in accordance with complex manufacturing process instructions.

What You’ll Work On

  • Coordinates production activity in assigned work areas, ensuring that product is processed in accordance with build schedules
  • Act as interim supervisor while supervisor is not present
  • Prioritizes daily tasks with minimal oversight, provides materials requests proactively in advance
  • Understands Line Balance, performs hourly line walks and adjusts headcount to achieve daily targets
  • Coordinates communication of work instructions to personnel in designated areas in accordance with supervisory objectives
  • Accurately summarizes activities/downtime/rejects on Production Summary and Line Sheet
  • Directs the team’s efforts in expediting priority product and tasks in assigned areas
  • Works directly with production manager to ensure that quality and production goals are met; manages daily metrics
  • Motivate employees and build teams to support the site’s policy of continuous improvement
  • Runs daily Tier I meetings with operators to focus on goals, quality, safety, and productivity, and yield; reports daily metrics up to supervisor and manager
  • Ensure the training of new manufacturing personnel to the team. Will assist in providing direct training to operators as required. Coordinate trainings with no oversight from supervisor on which stations/operators need to be trained. Manage training matrix.
  • Perform inspection of device DHR’s to ensure that all requirements have been met and that any defects encountered during processing have been appropriately resolved prior to quality review. Raises concerns to quality when necessary.
  • Identify potential Quality System gaps, communicate to Engineering, and remediate as appropriate
  • Ensure all procedures are adhered to and that GMP requirements are maintained.
  • Ensure safe-working practices are adhered to.
  • Provide input on performance appraisals
  • Able to provide trouble shooting guidance to supervisor, operators or engineers on unit or process failures
  • Able to review specified CATSWEB subtasks with Engineering support and refine and needed prior to execution
  • Able to train to and achieve standard work and assembly time on multiple stations.
  • Utilize 5S tools to improve station layout
  • Provides feedback on larger procedural updates to address compliance gaps or areas for performance improvement.
  • Ability to train other operators to procedures, and explain key aspects of JBS
  • Go-to person for when auditors are on the line
  • Perform changeover from one product type to another, on station using changeover matrix, and escalate to lead, supervisor, or equipment group depending on what product the station is changing from and to. Requires comprehensive knowledge of various tools/equipment/fixtures for various product types.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and implement lengthy, complex procedures written in English
  • Maintain clean room integrity by using proper attire and adherence to clean room environment practices and procedures

Shift

Monday – Thursday, 5AM - 3:30PM, with potential overtime

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum 2 years Lead experience.
  • Minimum 6 years Related work experience.
  • Considerable administrative or creative knowledge of other functions or operations in order to develop new approaches to issues or problems. Usually achieved with experience through multiple business cycles in various assignments, generally 5-10 years. Effective job performance requires considerable experience.
  • Fluent in MS Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to document technical information related to manufacturing incidents and nonconformances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two-year degree or some college credits preferred, but not required.

The base pay for this position is $21.55 – $43.05 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
