The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Full-time Senior Financial Analyst position. The Preclinical Research Division of the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and NYSPI/RFMH is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to support a portfolio of faculty and investigators conducting neuroscience research. This is a dual-institutional role operating across NYSPI/RFMH and Columbia University systems. The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with the Division Administrator and central administrative and sponsored research teams to provide comprehensive grants and fiscal management. The ideal candidate brings deep post-award expertise, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach to supporting the scientific mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Fiscal Management of Sponsored Projects portfolio

  • Manage post-award financials for a portfolio of NIH, federal, and private foundation grants across RFMH and CU systems, in coordination with post-award administrators, SPF, SPA, and OSP.
  • In conjunction with RFMH and CU finance teams, monitor project budgets, fund balances, expenditures, and effort; identify variances and work proactively with PIs and the Division Administrator to resolve issues
  • Prepare and submit financial reports including Interim Financial Reports (IFRs), Federal Financial Reports (FFRs), and quarterly attestations
  • Manage subcontract financials including invoice review and closeout
  • Handle account setups, rebudgets, carryover requests, advance setups, suspense monitoring and clearance, NCE requests and award closeouts
  • Manage animal facility invoices and ensure accurate project allocation; support the Administrative Director and central teams in responding to audits - both internal and external.
  • Exercise significant level of discretion in making decisions and recommendations

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum (3) years of sponsored research administration experience in an academic medical center or university research environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (MBA, MPA, MPH) or CRA certification
  • Strong post-award expertise including federal awards (NIH, NSF) and familiarity with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and NIH Grants Policy Statement
  • Experience working with both pre- and post-award central offices in a fast-paced, complex, multi-institutional environment
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to manage a large portfolio under competing deadlines
  • Familiarity with RFMH systems and dual-institutional (state/university) administrative environments
  • Experience supporting basic science or preclinical research programs
