We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our construction team in Palm Beach County. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and/or residential construction projects from conceptual design through final bid submission. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing multiple bids simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and/or residential construction projects
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate material, labor, and subcontractor costs
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop complete bid packages
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates
- Work closely with project managers, executives, and field teams to support preconstruction planning
- Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project profitability
- Maintain and update cost databases based on market trends and historical data
- Participate in bid reviews, scope analysis, and handoff meetings with operations teams
- Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of estimating experience in commercial or residential construction
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures
- Experience with quantity takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Procore)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience in Palm Beach County or South Florida construction market preferred
- High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Preferred Experience:
- Commercial construction (schools, healthcare, multifamily, office, municipal projects)
- General contracting or subcontracting estimating background
- Value engineering and preconstruction involvement
- Strong vendor and subcontractor network in South Florida
