The team is an integrated, multi-disciplinary group that is fast-moving and looking for motivated individuals that can contribute and collaborate closely with the team to deliver innovative solutions. As a member of the SCI team, you will solve some of the most exciting problems in the distributed energy and industrial power infrastructure space while helping shape the direction of our products.
What you will do
  • Understand our unique product and systems architectures and help designandvalidateapproachesforperformantsystemcontrol andproductintegration
  • Participate in prototyping and implementation ofcustom control logic embedded ondistributedreal-time control platforms
  • Develop andintegrate control logic indetailed electro-magnetic transient (EMT) simulation modelsthat integratepower electronics systems, power systems, and control systemsusing PSCADand othersimilarmodeling tools
  • Participate in modeling forhardware-in-the-loop(HIL)simulation-based validationofpower systemsand converters
  • Developspecificationsand integration designs forexternal control interfaces,sensing,electrical protection, and power system integrationof power electronics products
Who you are and What you bring
  • BS/MS/PhDElectrical Engineeringor closelyrelateddisciplinewithmodelingandenergy system experience.
  • Job title and position level will bedeterminedupon the candidate’s experience
  • Minimum experiencefor a Senior Engineer:BS and5+ yearsof relevant experience/ MS and3+ years / PhD
  • Minimum experiencefor a Staff Engineer:BS and 8+ yearsrelevantexperience/ MS and 6+ years / PhD and 3+ years

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Special Attributes
  • Strong experiencedeveloping, from theory to implementation,controland optimization approaches (e.g., phased-lock loops, closed-loop control systems,droopcontrol, filtering and estimation, system identification, etc.)appliedto energy systems
  • Proficient developing and/or analyzing control logic written in C, C++, or python
  • Familiar withembedded platformsand conceptsappropriate forreal-time control implementation
  • Experience developingand integratingdynamical modelsfor power electronics systems,power systems,generators,dynamic loads,and/orHVDC systems
  • Proficientwith EMT-based software tools (e.g., PSCAD,PowerFactory,EMTP,Simulink/SimscapeElectrical,RTDS,Hypersim,or similar tools)
  • Experience with HIL simulation-based validation
  • Ableto take ownership ofdevelopmenttasks and drive them to completionin a timely mannerand with high quality to support team success
AdditionalDesired Skills
  • Hands-on experience implementing and testing systems of embedded controllers and/or power electronics devices with embedded control
  • Knowledge ofpower system integration codes and standards such as IEEE 2800, UL 1741, and IEEE 1547
Travel
  • Occasional travel domestically
Work location
  • Hybrid position (at least 3 days in the office per week) based inAustin, TX
The base pay range for this position is $90,000 to $135,000. This salary range may bemodifiedin the future. The successful candidate’s starting pay will bedeterminedbased on job-related skills, experience, education or training, work location, and market conditions. This position is also eligible forbonus, equity, and benefits.
