WSP India is currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Property and Buildings team at our Bengaluru office. This position will be responsible for the delivery of multidisciplinary design projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role involves stability checks; design of foundations and other concrete elements; design of steel elements and steel connections; and coordination with the lead engineer and other disciplines. Key duties include evaluation, analysis, design, cost estimation, tender preparation, shop drawing review, and contract and construction administration.

The successful candidate will work within the Sweden GCC Property & Buildings team and will be a dynamic, self-motivated individual who will take on a responsible role in project work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence.  The role requires management of several projects and becoming involved in design at an early stage.  The ability to plan and design deliverables based on Sweden Engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided, where necessary. Role will be working under the supervision of Principal engineer or an Associate.

Core Functions

  • Prepare feasibility study reports to meet brief requirements in the agreed format and review them with the Associate or Lead. 

  • Work with the team to assemble design specifications compliant with the Employer’s Requirements; agree on their format and content; and monitor and review their preparation to ensure delivery by the due date. 

  • Agree on and monitor the scope of works with the Associate or Lead. 

  • Review and monitor the production of calculations, including QA checks, technical reviews, and final sign‑off. 

  • Fully adhere to document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring that drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence are issued and filed appropriately, coach junior staff in their use. 

  • Demonstrate hands‑on experience in all aspects of analysis, preliminary design, and detailed design of buildings, including concrete and steel elements, with strong fundamentals and multidisciplinary coordination experience. 

  • Prepare technical analysis and design, including cost estimation and quantity take‑offs. 

  • Prepare quantities and construction cost estimates and review shop drawings. 

  • Prepare and review drawings and presentation materials. 

  • Coordinate project contract documents (drawings and specifications) and prepare or review inputs from other team members.

 

Technical and Project Management

  • Raise the level of technical competence within the team

  • Implement delivery and quality measurement processes

  • Promote technical excellence in all our projects

  • Undertake technical reviews and contribute to the concept design

  • Provide continuous feedback to the Local Head of GCC on the effectiveness of the protocols and processes in place with a view to continuous improvement

  • Develop positive professional relationship with the WSP in India Sweden team, communicating openly about project progress

  • Participate in team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in WSP 

  • Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes

  • Manage delegated tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leader

  • Identify and flag additional resource requirement to the Local GCC Head of Structures

  • Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines
