The Senior Engineer I, Array R&D is responsible for supporting Biochip Array R&D activities including Array printing and NGS support. This is a central role with high visibility and involves good communication across all internal groups. You will establish a collaborative environment that values equity of voice, inclusive behaviors and trusting teams.

This position is part of the R&D Platforms and Services Group and will be located on-site in Sunnyvale. In this R&D group, our vision is to innovate a better way to improve patient outcomes by enabling molecular diagnostic testing everywhere. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Hands-on facility role focused on high-precision DNA microarray fabrication and Next Gen Sequencing (NGS)
  • Operation/maintenance/validation of sophisticated automation equipment
  • Assist in the preparation of samples for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), including DNA/RNA extraction, quantification, and quality assessment
  • Perform library preparation using standardized protocols and kits
  • Conduct quality control (QC) analysis including visual inspection and image-based assessment
  • Maintain inventory of reagents, consumables, and substrates
  • Support process development, trouble shoot and process transfer to external parties
  • Collect, document, summarize and communicate data/trends on a regular basis
  • Follow established procedures and methods to ensure consistency and reduce variance
  • Collaborate across disciplines to deliver critical consumables to internal customers and partners
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records in compliance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Master’s degree or higher in engineering or physical science
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with NGS workflows,
  • Experience with instrumentation, automation, prototype equipment
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, written and electronic documentation, meticulous attention to detail

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with semiconductor processes
  • Experience with regulated environments
  • Experience with DNA microarray fabrication and/or other highly parallel formats

The annual salary range for this role is $116,000 to $159,500 USD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
