You will contribute to the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept and system trade studies through prototyping, testing, and integration, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic circuits and systems, including digital, analog, and RF hardware for ASW receiver systems and associated signal processing electronics.
  • Perform system-level trade-off analyses, risk assessments, and participate actively in design reviews to ensure robust, high-performance solutions.
  • Test, debug, and validate prototype hardware, identifying root causes of issues and implementing effective design improvements.
  • Guide PCB layout and work closely with ECAD teams to ensure that board designs meet electrical, mechanical, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Develop clear and comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, test reports, and design review materials.
  • Present technical findings, design decisions, and project status at formal and informal design reviews to stakeholders and engineering peers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including systems, software, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, to integrate hardware into complete ASW systems.
  • Apply signal processing principles in the design and analysis of receiver and processing electronics.
  • Use CAD and simulation tools to model, analyze, and optimize circuit performance prior to and during prototyping.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers by providing technical guidance, code and design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Travel occasionally to support design reviews, integration activities, testing, or collaboration with other teams or facilities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on hardware design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in analog, digital, and RF circuit design.
  • Experience in the design and development of electronic circuits for complex systems.
  • Practical experience with signal processing concepts as applied to electronic hardware and receiver systems.
  • Proficiency with PCB board design and integration, including guiding PCB layout activities.
  • Experience working with ECAD teams and tools to develop and refine PCB layouts.
  • Proficiency with CAD and simulation tools such as Altium and LTspice, or similar electronic design automation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve hardware issues during design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation, collaboration, and design reviews.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with embedded systems and integrating hardware with embedded software.
  • Familiarity with FPGA-based designs and their integration into larger electronic systems.
  • Experience using MATLAB or similar tools for analysis, modeling, or signal processing support.
  • Experience in RF systems, including receiver front-end design and RF signal handling.
  • Experience participating in or leading formal design reviews and technical presentations.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams and adapt to evolving project needs.

Work Environment
