Senior Director, Talent Acquisition (Contract-to-Hire): Pre-IPO Biotech Company: NJ

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director of Talent Acquisition to lead and scale recruiting efforts across the organization during a critical period of growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Talent Acquisition, this leader will partner closely with executive leadership, hiring managers, and HR to develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy that attracts top-tier biotech talent.
This is an initial 6-month contract engagement with the opportunity for conversion to a full-time position based on mutual agreement and business needs.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience building recruiting infrastructure within high-growth biotech or life sciences organizations and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy across scientific, clinical, technical, corporate, and commercial functions
- Partner with executive leadership to forecast hiring needs and develop scalable workforce planning initiatives
- Build and optimize recruiting processes, systems, metrics, and operational infrastructure to support rapid organizational growth
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on talent market trends, competitive intelligence, and hiring strategies
- Drive full-cycle recruitment efforts for senior and critical hires, including Director, VP, and executive-level searches
- Develop and implement employer branding and talent attraction strategies to strengthen market presence
- Manage and mentor recruiting team members and external search partners to ensure high-quality candidate experience and hiring outcomes
- Establish data-driven recruiting KPIs and reporting dashboards to monitor performance, pipeline health, and hiring effectiveness
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and business leaders to align hiring priorities with organizational objectives
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, recruiting best practices, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Evaluate and implement recruiting technologies, tools, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Support the development of scalable talent programs and recruiting capabilities aligned with long-term organizational growth objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including leadership roles within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organizations
- Proven experience scaling recruiting functions within high-growth environments
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner effectively with senior leadership
- Demonstrated success recruiting across scientific, clinical, technical, corporate, and commercial disciplines
- Experience developing recruiting operations, metrics, and talent acquisition infrastructure
- Deep understanding of biotech talent markets and competitive hiring landscapes
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working in both strategic and hands-on recruiting capacities
- Prior experience supporting venture-backed or rapidly scaling organizations is highly preferred
Preferred Experience:
- Experience supporting organizations through periods of rapid growth, expansion, or transformation
- Familiarity with ATS platforms, recruiting analytics, and talent intelligence tools
- Strong network within the biotechnology and life sciences community
- Experience partnering with executive leadership teams in scaling organizations
Compensation:
Competitive hourly or consulting compensation commensurate with experience.
