Senior Director of Supply Chain

Position Summary
The Senior Director of Supply Chain is accountable for the end-to-end supply chain, strategy and execution for a chemical market leader, encompassing planning, production scheduling, Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP), procurement, inventory management, working capital, and cash management. Managing $100M in procurement and $35M in on-hand inventory. This role ensures supply continuity, cost optimization, and service excellence while driving continuous improvement across all supply chain processes. The Senior Director of Supply Chain serves as key driver of enterprise decision making, partnering with leaders across Operations, Finance, Sales, and Technology to synchronize demand, supply, and financial objectives with business strategy.
Order management responsibilities will encompass the processing and delivery of over 15,000 unique orders and over 5,000 SKUs across seven manufacturing locations.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Supply Chain Leadership
• Own and optimize the end-to-end supply chain, from demand planning through procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and customer fulfillment.
• Establish clear accountability, governance, and performance management across all supply chain functions.
• Ensure supply chain strategies support overall business objectives, growth plans, and customer commitments.
• Partner with site warehouse leaders to ensure sure shop floor transactional processes support the business strategies related to working capital management
Planning, Scheduling & SIOP
• Lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, ensuring alignment between demand, supply, and financial plans.
• Facilitate executive-level SIOP reviews, presenting trade-offs, risks, and recommendations.
• Lead teams to utilize statistical techniques and software tools to drive forecast accuracy improvements and scenario planning to manage volatility and risk, specifically with make-to-stock business.
• Develop and maintain robust demand planning, capacity planning, and production scheduling processes.
• Develop reports and monitor critical KPIs to show shipments trends, forecast performance and supply issues; Implement corrective actions to meet targeted KPI's. Establish key business meetings that drive collaboration and process improvements across all functional areas.
Procurement & Supplier Management
• Lead strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities.
• Negotiate contracts and pricing to achieve cost, quality, delivery, and risk objectives.
• Build strong supplier partnerships while reducing dependency and improving resilience.
• Implement supplier performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives.
Working Capital & Cash Management
• Own inventory strategy and tracking, balancing service, cost, and cash.
• Drive improvements in inventory turns, days inventory outstanding (DIO), and material availability, through partnerships with the Site Leaders which own the inventory at their specific locations.
• Partner with Finance to manage working capital, payment terms, and cash flow impact across the supply chain.
• Identify initiatives to reduce excess and obsolete inventory, holding sites accountable to deliver agreed to actions.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain processes using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Standardize processes, improve data integrity, and leverage systems and analytics to enable better decision-making.
• Champion digital tools and system enhancements (ERP, planning systems, analytics) to improve visibility and execution.
• Build a culture of accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement within the supply chain organization.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, Finance, and Technology to resolve constraints and optimize performance.
• Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on supply chain risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
• Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing supply chain team.

Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience
• Demonstrated ownership of SIOP, planning, scheduling, and procurement
• Strong financial acumen with proven impact on working capital and cash flow
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing at the executive level
• Experience in mixed model Make to Forecast (MTF) Make to Stock (MTS) and Made to Order (MTO) environment
Preferred
• Experience in manufacturing or complex supply chain environments
• Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS certifications (CPIM, CSCP)
• ERP and advanced planning system experience
