Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our Sydney team, working across a range of engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and delivery.

This role is responsible for producing complete design documentation for both internal and external customers, ensuring designs are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. You will work closely with engineering, sales, and production teams to develop practical, cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements and operational needs.

You will also play a key role in leading design activities across projects, supporting junior engineers, and ensuring quality, safety, and delivery standards are consistently achieved.

What you will be doing

  • Design & Drafting: Develop concept and detailed designs using AutoCAD, Inventor, and associated CAD tools
  • Project Delivery: Manage multiple projects, ensuring design deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Documentation & Standards: Produce drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation aligned to company and industry standards
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, sales, production, and customers to translate requirements into practical designs
  • Design Review & Validation: Verify and validate designs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and suitability for manufacture
  • Leadership & Support: Lead and support draftsmen, graduate engineers, and engineers within project scope
  • Risk & Compliance: Conduct risk assessments and apply appropriate control measures, ensuring alignment with HSE and quality frameworks
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics) or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering design within a production or project environment
  • Strong experience with Autodesk tools including AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault
  • Experience with PTC Creo and Windchill (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of SAP (MM/PP) and Microsoft Office
  • Strong understanding of Australian and international engineering standards
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across teams and with customers
  • High attention to detail and focus on quality outcomes
