Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts (hybrid work model)


Role Overview

A global research and development organisation in the life sciences sector is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its analytics team. In this role, you will work with stakeholders across various business functions to transform complex, often ambiguous challenges into structured data solutions.


You will lead projects across the full data science lifecycle, from data preparation and modelling to delivering insights and recommendations. A key part of the role involves clearly communicating findings, including assumptions and limitations, to both technical and non-technical audiences.


In addition to project delivery, you will contribute to advancing data science capabilities within the organisation by mentoring colleagues, promoting best practices, and ensuring high-quality standards across all analytical work.


This position allows for a significant level of remote work, with occasional travel required for on-site collaboration and team activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define analytical approaches to business challenges
  • Lead end-to-end data science initiatives, including data preparation, modelling, and evaluation
  • Apply modern analytical techniques and stay current with developments in data science
  • Communicate results and insights effectively to stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Support and guide other data scientists across projects
  • Establish and maintain robust standards, processes, and quality controls for analytical work

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience


Required experience includes:

  • Working in data-driven roles within regulated or complex industries such as life sciences, technology, or similar sectors
  • Translating business needs into analytical and data-driven solutions
  • Performing full-cycle data processing (extraction, transformation, and analysis) using SQL across multiple systems
  • Developing advanced models and analyses using programming languages such as Python or R
  • Using version control tools (e.g. Git) and cloud platforms (e.g. AWS)
  • Creating data visualisations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders


Additional Information

  • Full-time position
  • Salary range: approximately $162,000 – $260,000 annually, depending on experience and location factors
