POSITION SUMMARY:
The (senior) Buyer is responsible for the planning and procurement of raw materials, packaging and services from external vendors and other J&J plants.
The (senior) buyer will work at the production facility, and will report to the local plant manager, and indirectly (dotted line) to the Senior Director of Procurement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Raws and Pack inventory Management, Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) and ordering from vendors
- Manage Purchase Orders (PO's) from placement to receiving and payables
- Monitor, maintain, track, and ensure the fulfillment of inventory for assigned items and vendors
- Communicate and assist in invoice resolution and shipment issues with vendors
- Obtain and analyze quotes from suppliers; negotiate pricing and terms
- Maintain good relations with vendor
- Control Purchasing Department spending
- Frequent interaction with the corporate procurement team and other plant buyer
- Be aligned with local business requirements and stakeholders (Quality, production, R&D, finance, etc.)
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the local plant Managers (S&G, indirect/Capex orders, warehouse, logistics, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree and at least 2 years of relevant purchasing experience or equivalent education preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS / TRAVEL REQUIREDMENTS
- Ambient. Factory noise with hearing protection. Occasional visits to production floor or frozen storage with appropriate protective clothing.
