Overview
The IT Department is seeking a motivated Senior Business Analyst who will be based out of the O’Fallon, MO office. This position will serve as Business Analyst/Quality Assurance for an Agile software development team. The workload will be a mix of new development projects and maintenance requests for custom web applications, reports, and ERP system.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a senior Business Analyst and Quality Assurance partner for assigned Agile teams, providing end-to-end ownership of requirements discovery, analysis, validation, and delivery readiness.
- Lead stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process reviews to elicit business needs, define problems/opportunities, and align on desired outcomes and success measures.
- Partner with Product Owner and technical leads to translate business needs into clear epics, features, and user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria; facilitate backlog refinement and prioritization.
- Provide requirements governance by ensuring completeness, traceability, and sign-off as appropriate; manage scope changes and support impact analysis across people, process, and technology.
- Model current and future-state processes and data flows; document business rules, workflows, and procedures using appropriate techniques (e.g., BPMN, flow diagrams, use cases) to support shared understanding.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and application managers to shape solution options, evaluate tradeoffs, and ensure proposed designs satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.
- Define and execute comprehensive test strategy and plans (functional, regression, integration, UAT support) based on requirements; triage defects, verify fixes, and ensure quality outcomes prior to release.
- Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and impediments; recommend mitigation plans and communicate impacts to stakeholders and leadership.
- Develop and deliver clear status reporting (scope, schedule, milestones, risks/issues, and decisions) and present updates for projects and key initiatives to business and IT leadership.
- Support change management by preparing release communications, training materials, and end-user documentation; coordinate implementation activities and provide post-implementation support to ensure adoption.
- Where applicable, create wireframes/prototypes and validate them with users to refine requirements and improve usability and workflow efficiency.
- Own intake and analysis of project and service requests in the Service Desk ticketing system; clarify requirements, set expectations, and coordinate prioritization and delivery with IT partners.
- Use data and metrics to support decision-making (e.g., trend analysis, root-cause analysis, operational reporting) and to measure outcomes of delivered solutions.
- Continuously improve team and analysis practices by identifying process improvements, promoting standards/templates, and staying current on tools, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Provide functional leadership to cross-functional partners by facilitating decision-making, documenting key decisions, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical delivery.
- Mentor and coach less-experienced analysts (including co-ops) on requirements techniques, documentation quality, and stakeholder management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, information technology or a similarly related field required; or equivalent work experience required.
- Eight or more years of related experience required.
- Experience partnering with vendors, business partners, and cross-functional IT technical teams (developers, QA, architects, infrastructure) is preferred.
- Proficiency documenting requirements and stakeholder communications using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Process mapping and solution documentation using Microsoft Visio (or similar diagramming tool) is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Power BI, and SSRS is a plus.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and ERP systems (e.g., JDE E1) is a plus.
- Experience applying both Waterfall and Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery methodologies is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and execute across multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including facilitation of workshops and meetings, are preferred.
- Ability to conduct independent research and root-cause analysis to resolve issues is preferred.
- Ability to present complex concepts and solution options in business-friendly, user-friendly language is preferred.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal direction is preferred.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on stakeholder partnership and responsiveness is preferred.
- Keen attention to detail with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and testable requirements is preferred.
- Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative, cross-functional environment is preferred.
The hours for this position will be 7:30am - 4:00pm, 8:00am - 4:30pm or 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
