The Senior Applications Specialist is a senior level individual contributor within the Business Applications and Data team, responsible for overseeing, supporting, and implementing technology based solutions for business clients across Financial Accounting, Land, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, and Human Resources in both corporate and field environments. The overall scope of responsibility includes day-to-day support, evaluating, recommending, and driving changes/solutions to current and future systems requirements to meet organizational needs; technical implementation, business and operational deployment for business applications.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical operational support for assigned enterprise applications such as Enertia, Field Operator/ProCount/Carte, Wellview/Siteview, Aucerna Execute, ARIES etc.; including issue troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident resolution, and coordination with vendors and internal IT teams.
- Drive collaboration with end users, business stakeholders, IT infrastructure/network teams, and vendors to define, document, and implement business functional requirements and technology solutions, including consulting support for system design, reports, and enhanced software functionality to meet business' driven needs.
- Oversee and provide technical oversight for application upgrades, patch testing and acceptance, ensuring alignment with business needs and technology advancements.
- Adhere to established IT change management policies and procedures, including preparing and submitting change requests, assessing risk and impact, and assisting with the coordination and facilitation of weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.
- Adhere to and manage application related internal controls, including supporting SOX and audit requirements, responding to internal and external auditors, conducting periodic user access reviews, and ensuring completion and documentation of all required application and technology controls.
- Actively support the company's current data warehouse by serving as the application subject matter expert (SME), providing guidance, expertise, and hands-on support for data integrations, enhancements, and master data management to ensure the environment meets business and analytics needs.
- Maintain proficiency in the Azure platform hosting internal business applications, and ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation of application infrastructure, configurations, integrations, and data flows to support operational stability, troubleshooting, and future enhancements.
- Participate in enterprise initiatives such as implementation and promotion of AI tools, cloud migrations, new application implementations, disaster recovery planning and testing, master data management and business process automation.
- Develops and manages effective working relationships with other departments, groups, vendors and personnel with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced.??
- Collaborate with business on application training needs and allocates resources to provide training and support in corporate and field offices as required.
- Acts as a key liaison between Business and IT to ensure both sides are well-informed on all Business application technology, training needs and business technology requirements.
Required Skills
- BS or MS degree in computer science or information management is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years oil & gas upstream industry experience.
- Excellent knowledge of Oil & Gas Operations Accounting, Production, Marketing, Enterprise content management information technologies, architecture methodologies, data requirements, application functionalities and processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing and supporting cloud based applications across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and SaaS platforms, with a primary focus on application functionality, integrations, identity and access management (Entra ID/Azure AD, SSO), licensing, vendor coordination, and application lifecycle management.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts, including querying, data analysis, and understanding table relationships to support application functionality and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Data Warehouse solutions including cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks.
- Excellent communications and problem solving skills, with the ability to execute multiple tasks, from project work to day-to-day operational tasks in various applications. Ability to manage projects through their entire life cycle and coordinate all projects activities between business users and the various IT work groups.
