- Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities for assigned security services including conducting daily facility checks.
- Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for improving service-delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements.
- Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned security services; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Maintain training records for security officers being recertified; maintain daily staffing records for accountability and monitoring purposes.
- Maintain security-issued equipment in good working order; repair equipment as necessary; ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Oversee handling of vaults, money, fareboxes and computer probing of boxes; ensure audits are pulled and all farebox readings are complete.
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate security personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Participate in the development and administration of assigned budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Provide staff assistance to the Security Superintendent; participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
- Coordinate security activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of security supervision.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED supplemented by thirty (30) credit hours of college level course work in law enforcement or criminal justice; and
Four (4) years of security experience; and
To include one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Environmental:Office environment; exposure to potentially hostile environments; exposure to computers; exposure to inclement weather.
Physical:Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for heavy or moderate lifting; sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods; operating a motor vehicle.
