Seasonal Maintenance Worker

This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the City golf course grounds during the summer months.

This position is budgeted for twelve (12) weeks only.Essential duties and functions may include the following:

Mows greens, fairways, and tees using tractor mowers.
Verticuts, top dresses, and drags greens.
Monitors for greens for hot spots and disease.
Aerates, sprays, and applies fertilizer to fields, greens, fairways, and tees.
Maintains mower and changes cutting reels as needed.
Irrigates greens, fairways, and tees.
Assists in repairing irrigation leaks and replacing sprinkler heads and water lines.
Maintains rough and areas surrounding the golf course.
Maintains sand traps by filling traps with sand, pumping water out of traps, and spinning and raking the traps.
Removes trees, trims shrubs, and weeds flower beds.
Assists in over seeding greens and tees.
Cleans restrooms and pro shop.
Picks up, cleans, and returns the driving range golf balls to the proshop.
Operates weed eaters and trimmers, as needed.
Pulls out, cleans, and puts up carts
Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Texas for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Knowledge of City, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
Knowledge of golf course maintenance techniques.
Knowledge of the regulations regarding the use of fertilizers.
Skills in operating mowers, tractors, trucks, weed eaters, chain saws and hand tools.
