Contract Scientist – Cell Line Engineering

Location: Worcester, MA (Onsite)

Duration: 12‑month contract

Pay Rate: $45–46/hr (with benefits)


Position Overview

We are seeking a Contract Scientist to join the Cell Line Engineering group within Biotherapeutics Discovery. This team plays a critical role in generating cellular reagents that support a wide range of applications across the therapeutic development process.

Working under the supervision of a senior scientist, this individual will support mammalian cell culture, cell line engineering, cell-based assays, and flow cytometry, while also contributing to lab operations and digital cell line inventory initiatives. This role offers hands-on exposure to cutting-edge cell and molecular biology technologies in an industry research setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mammalian cell culture (immortalized, cancer, and primary cell lines)
  • Generate, maintain, and bank engineered KO, KI, and OE cell lines
  • Support antibody discovery and assay development programs
  • Perform flow cytometry (FACS) analysis, cell sorting, and cloning
  • Execute and support cell-based assays
  • Contribute to technology development for cell line engineering
  • Expand and bank core cell lines to ensure sufficient inventory
  • Consolidate historical and current cell line assets into a digital inventory system
  • Coordinate cell line inventory across multiple sites to support future Cell Bank initiatives
  • Assist with general lab and inventory management

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience, preferably in an industry setting
  • Strong experience with:
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Cell line engineering
  • CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing
  • Flow cytometry / FACS
  • Cell-based assays
  • Solid foundation in cell and molecular biology
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced research environment

Nice to Have

  • Vector design or genome engineering experience
  • Cell cloning and receptor density quantification
  • Exposure to discovery or therapeutic development research
