Job Description

The Scientist I role is an intermediate position focused on analytical chemistry and chromatography instrumentation, including troubleshooting. The Scientist I will independently execute protocols and verify results while providing guidance to associate scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wet chemistry testing using various instruments.
  • Articulate work-related issues clearly and effectively to management and peers.
  • Conduct accurate routine testing utilizing instrumental methods of analysis, such as HPLC, TLC, FTIR, pH, UV-Vis, and ICP-MS, with an emphasis on chromatography to meet departmental objectives.
  • Update and route SOPs, MOAs, and Specifications through Documentum as delegated by the supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation by applying problem-solving skills.
  • Provide guidance to Associate Scientist personnel when necessary.
  • Document testing in compliance with Good Documentation Practices.
  • Manage work and time based on departmental priorities using judgment and objective reasoning.
  • Perform peer review of data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Essential Skills
  • Expertise in wet chemistry, titrations, and chromatography.
  • Strong understanding of GMP and documentation quality assurance.
  • Hands-on experience with HPLC, FTIR, UV-VIS, ICP-MS, and gas chromatography.
  • Proficiency in analytical chemistry, case management, and Empower.
  • Familiarity with cGMP and FDA regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience in an agile environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or related physical science.
  • 1-4 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Preference for experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Nice-to-have skills include Gas Chromatography (GC) and Case Management Experience with 3+ years.
Work Environment

The role is 100% onsite, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, first shift from 8am-5pm, with flexibility between 7am and 9am for an 8-hour day. The team consists of 14 members, including diverse individuals from Associate Chemist to Lead Chemist. The work environment is high-paced, requiring the ability to multi-task, be approachable, and accountable. There is potential for assignment extension or conversion to a full-time position, although not guaranteed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MELROSE PARK, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
